Hello

I am Monk Venchai (Phraarjarn Chaiyasit Ariyawangso)

My Story

       My name is Venchai. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. I have been practice meditation since 1985. At that time I was studying in high school. My mum took me to the temple. I attended Buddhist monk training and ordained as a novice in 1989. (During summer in my second university year for one and half month.) I was the president of the Buddhist Club, Sanamchan Palace Campus, Silpakorn University, Nakhon Pathom province in 1990.

 

       When I was 20 years old, I attended Buddhist monk training again. That time, I became a monk and received a set of monk’s robes from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 1991. (She's the daughter of King Rama 9.) Regarding my educational background, I graduated bachelor of science with the Major Mathematics from Silpakorn University. In Buddhist study, I graduated with Dhamma Scholar Advanced Level and a bachelor degree in Buddhist Studies from Dhammakaya Open University Azusa in California. Master Degree in Buddhist Studies from Dhammachai Institution. After I graduated with a bachelor of science, I worked as a programmer in 1992 in a company for one and a half years. I became a monk in 1994.

       

       Till today, I have been a monk for 27 years. For all my three-time ordinations (1 time as a novice and 2 times as a monk), I ordained in Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram temple in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is known as the marble temple which is one of the most beautiful temples and a major tourist attraction in Bangkok. I had 2 years of meditation training with the great master in 1994. About great master, He is 77 years old now and has been a monk for 52 years. He is one of the best monks in Thailand in meditation. I have taught 2 subjects in Dhammachai Institute: meditation 2 and meditation 3. I have been to many provinces in Thailand to teach meditation. For my current position, I am a teacher of Buddhist studies and meditation course (1995 – Present)

 

       For international experiences, I have been to 26 countries to teach meditation and perform Buddhist activities. For example, Perform religious activity in Orewa meditation centre, New Zealand, 2004 (5 months) in Brazil 2 times (Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte 3 cities for 6 months) (from 2014-01-16 to 2014-05-05) in The United States of America (4 states, 6 months, Azusa: California state, Seattle: Washington state, Atlanta: Georgia State, Washington DC. District of Columbia) from 2014-05-06 to 2014-11-05 in Norway & some countries in Europe for 3 months (Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland & Netherlands) in South Korea in Oman (2 months) Perform religious activity at Phra Dhammakaya Temple, Taipei, Taiwan 2008 (2 times) Hong Kong and Kowloon meditation centre (2 times) at Johannesburg Meditation Center and Cape Town Meditation Center, South Africa, 4 times (about 5 months in each time) at Dubai Meditation Center, United Arab Emirates (2 times) at People's Democratic Republic of Laos (many times) in some provinces in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney) Study tour in Myanmar many provinces (4 times) in China, 2010 in Japan (2 times in many cities (1st time for 29 days)) in India - Nepal 4 times in Cambodia many times in Indonesia (Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali) in Malaysia (3 times some cities etc. Kuala Lumpur, Penang Island) in the Philippines (2 cities Manila and Iloilo) in Singapore (10 days) in Vietnam 4 times (Hanoi Dalat and Ho Chi Minh City)

 

       I have rich experiences in meditation. My goal is to teach meditation around the world. I'm most proud of my students. When they practice meditation with me, they have very good inner experience. Their lives are better after they practice. They became wiser, more reliable, more dynamic and happier. Their efficiency and creativity at work also improved.
